U-Star
This is the extension of consortium project A-STAR. The A-STAR was limited to the participation from Asian countries, while U-STAR involves the participation from any country from the world. The objective of the project is to initiate a universal speech to speech translation service among languages of participating countries. The tasks involved are expanding the volume of corpora, standardization of corpora, linguistic tags information, communication protocols of modules and interface formats for three major modules of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Machine Translation (MT) and Text to Speech Synthesis (TTS).
